BOOK SYNOPSIS

The much-anticipated, brand-new Regency romance from New York Times bestselling author Katie MacAlister.

Can Dagmar flee Denmark

Dagmar Marie Sophie is a poverty-stricken Danish princess whose annoying royal cousin is about to have her stuffed away in a convent. When she finds a wounded man unconscious in her garden, she sees a way out of her desperate situation.

By Lying to Leo?

Leopold Ernst George Mortimer, seventh earl of March, and spy in the service of the king, finds himself on the wrong end of a saber and left for dead. He wakes up not remembering what happened...in the care of a beautiful woman who says she is his wife.

Back in London, Leo-with the help of his old friends the eccentric Britton family-sets out to unravel what he's forgotten... Is Dagmar truly the wonderful, irrepressible woman who makes his heart sing, or is she a dangerous enigma bent on his destruction?

My Thoughts

Insanely clever in it's twists and turns this fourth book takes the reader well beyond the bounds of believability and straight into the realms of the fantastical, all the while employing the sly wit used throughout the series keeping one on their toes not knowing what to expect from the characters next.

If you have ever read anything by Katie MacAlister than you know to expect oddball characters, off-the-charts humor and to suspend your rational thought processes and just go with the flow of the story, if you have not than please hold on to your hats because this tale has nothing to do with reality and everything to do with testing boundaries and shattering beliefs instilled by countless historical romances about how the characters in them should behave.

That is not to say that you are going to embrace wholeheartedly the idea that Dagmar marrying Leo was something he would actually accept as easily as he did, or that the unlikely couple would really find themselves as totally in sync with each other as they did very quickly but despite that you will hopefully enjoy reading about their adventures together as much as I did.

The icing on the cake as usual is the fact that once again we are reunited with characters from the previous three books in the series and as a matter of fact may have been given the lead in to book five if we are lucky!
