AmazonB&NBOOK SYNOPSIS
Sexy is as sexy does. And in Plum Orchard, sugar, it does!
Emmeline Amos is sick of her ex saying she's boring and prissy. After all, she works for a phone-sex company! (As general manager, but still.) On a rare girls' night out, fueled by blender drinks and bravado, Em accepts a shocking dare—to handle a call herself. But it's tipsy Em who gets an earful from an irate single father on the other end of the line. Awkward.
But not as awkward as discovering that same mad dad is Call Girls' gorgeous new programmer. Jax Hawthorne is still upset that his daughter called the "girlfriend store" on his behalf, but he can't deny he'd choose a hot-librarian type like Em if he were looking for love. Which he's not.
Em wants to do more than just talk the talk. So she makes a bawdy bargain with Jax. They've both been burned before—this time, they'll keep it strictly physical. Except as soon as they settle on no strings attached, things start to get tangled.
My Thoughts
When we first met Emmeline Amos she was dealing with being newly divorced, a single mother of two young boys and mediating the terms of a will that brought her former classmate and high school nemesis Dixie Davis back to Plum Orchard Georgia.
The two become friends and allies during the course of time and after the original choice of general manager for the phone sex company leaves Em takes on the job for a chance at a better salary to make things easier to support her sons.
Always having been taught to avoid conflict, keep herself in the background and remember her manners Em finds herself lonely as well as tired of always being a “good girl”. In a memorable night of too much “good cheer” Em answers a call and in the process finds herself on the receiving end of a plea to help a six-year-old girl’s father a girlfriend. Of course when “Daddy” comes on the line she finds herself being yelled at until she manages to take control of the conversation and finally ends up hanging up the phone.
In one memorable scene of book one readers had found Em exchanging heated eye contact with a handsome man playing with his daughter, the man ends up being the little girls father and also friends with Caine Donovan. Caine hires Jax to work up an internet security program for “Call Girls” and as co-workers he and Em soon find their physical attraction to be quite overwhelming, things get mighty interesting for the pair shortly thereafter and what starts out as a no strings bargain becomes pretty serious.
In book 2 Emmeline Amos is no longer boring and prissy, she is kicking ass, coming out of her shell, taking no prisoners and as a bonus finally chooses to find a way to classily put Louella Parsons in her place! Em and M you Rock!
