AmazonB&NBOOK SYNOPSIS
This explosive sequel to
Mind Games, which
New York Times bestselling author Holly Black called "a brutal, exciting gem of a book," is a lightning-fast, wickedly smart tale of two sisters trapped in a web of deceit—perfect for fans of Sara Shepard's Lying Game series.
For years, Annie and Fia have been in an endless battle for survival against the Keane Foundation. Now the sisters have found allies who can help them escape. But Annie's visions of the future and Fia's flawless instincts can't always tell them who to trust. The sisters can only rely on each other—and even their extraordinary gifts may not be enough to save them.
My Thoughts
This second book and apparently the last of the series pushes acceptable boundaries again as well as focusing on how much family solidarity means to Annie and Fia, no matter what these sisters are both determined that they will save the other from an unthinkable fated outcome.
The journey this time shows Annie more as the central character while Fia is in the background of the events that unfold to count down to the final ending which will leave one happy for the sisters but still feeling like there are still loose ends that could be resolved with the addition of one last book.
For sure this was once again full of twists and turns to keep one guessing as Annie’s loyalty to her sister Fia may have been in question a time or two as was Fia’s loyalty to Annie but never did they lose sight of the fact they loved each other nor did it matter how many lies were told as at the end the truth once again shone bright and clear for both of them.
Still using alternating POV chapters and flashback/forward style of story narration and it is still not a combination that I can comfortably follow at times easily but once you read it awhile you get used to it.
