BOOK SYNOPSIS

One choice will define you.

What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

My Thoughts

This is not at all what I was expecting, it picked up where book 2 Insurgent left off and then Allegiant jumped us through emotional hoops that dealt with prejudice as well as identity crises on the part of certain key characters.

The hard choices made by Tris and her friends in the past are nothing compared to the ones they have to face this time around, especially when dealing with all the changes their new lives bring.

The fact remains that this is a very strong trilogy that if read in its entirety will leave a definite impression, the book is darker than I would have liked the last book to be but understand it had to be that way to present proper closure to the story line.

I will not summarize anything specific because to do so would be to ruin the surprises in store within Allegiant and do not wish to do that for any other reader.

I will say there are no words to express how badly this last book broke my heart, thankfully it also had an an epilogue to the ending that was halfway pleasant so it made up for some of the angst.
