BOOK SYNOPSIS

Hailed as “impossible to put down,” the Hex Hall series has both critics and teens cheering. With a winning combination of romance, action, magic and humor, this third volume will leave readers enchanted.

Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.

Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late?

My Thoughts

My local library did not have book 2 Demonglass to lend to read so missed out on quite a bit that took place in between Hex Hall and Spell Bound. I do think though that author Rachel Hawkins was able to fill in the gaps quite well with short teasers of information sprinkled here and there amidst the story that revealed what all else Sophie had experienced to date.

Filled with the same witty repartee that endeared Sophie’s character to me in the first place Spell Bound manages to enlarge upon what was begun in the beginning of the series with book 1 Hex Hall and even though the ending is not a complete summation for Sophie and her friends it does bring to a close the main story arc in a way that is entertaining as well as satisfactory for all concerned.

Trilogy is done and Sophie's future is set
