BOOK SYNOPSIS

Amy Goodnight's family is far from normal. She comes from a line of witches, but tries her best to stay far outside the family business. Her summer gig? Ranch-sitting for her aunt with her wacky but beautiful sister. Only the Goodnight Ranch is even less normal than it normally is. Bodies are being discovered, a ghost is on the prowl, and everywhere she turns, the hot neighbor cowboy is in her face.

From the Hardcover edition.

My Thoughts

This was a delightful pleasure to read, both the Texas Hill Country setting and the cast of characters were excellently developed and the main character Amy Goodnight is a spunky sassy smart young woman whose ability to attract trouble is both hilarious as well as a serious threat to her future health.

Moment by moment spent with Amy and her sister Phin we find something new to like, the crazier the scenario the better. Coming from an entire family of magical talents Amy seems to be the only non-witch of the bunch, at least until she and her sister spend time on their Aunt Hyacinth’s Goodnight Ranch alone as house sitters while she takes a vacation.

From the spectre who begins to haunt Amy to the mysterious noises and lights out in the pastures of the neighboring property the woo woo gets stranger and stranger, the real fun begins though when Amy finds herself being reluctantly drawn back into what can only be described as an alternate reality than the rest of us live in. Magic and ghosts are a wicked combination, add in some humorous banter, a little over the top instruction on different equipment for paranormal research, a very sexy if rather cranky next door neighbor for Amy’s romantic interest, the mysterious noises in the night, some escape artist goats, a cast of supporting characters that are as goofy as they are smart and you touch just a little bit on what makes this book a page turning pleasure.

The mixture of suspense, mystery and paranormal phenomena make for a very enjoyable tale!
