Nothing beats a good book by master storyteller author
Laurell K. Hamilton! I am very glad that my copy of
Hit List came in the mail on Monday the 27th as I sat down with the book about 4 in the afternoon and when bedtime came at 10 pm I was done and still revved from all the pulse pounding action! Not only did this latest book capture the initial character of Anita Blake that gave the series such a huge fan base but it took her to a new level as she showed quite a bit more maturity as well as a softer side that normally she hides!
Not since reading Book #15
The Harlequin have I enjoyed Anita's choice of unlikely allies as I did in this one! With the trademark violence that accompanies every story being present but the penchant for group sex being absent this installment in the series has almost brought us full circle to the old Anita!
Being the 20th book in this long running series you would think that there was no way the author could still surprise and emotionally engage the reader, you would be wrong. Teaming up Anita with
Ted Forrester or Edward was the fastest route to stirring the pot and catapulting Anita into a total adventure that did not end with the last page... With this one the author has left open multiple possibilities for the next story and some of them should prove to be quite honestly the biggest challenge Anita has faced thus far!
No spoilers but let's just say there is finally going to be a showdown between Anita and someone she has long tried to steer clear of fighting!
I can hardly wait!
