Having absolutely totally head over heels loved author Jennifer Armintrout's Blood Ties series I felt only a lukewarm liking for [b:American Vampire|8534875|American Vampire|Jennifer Armintrout|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Fi3FR23CL._SL75_.jpg|13402183] !I thought the plot with the unidentified monster was interesting, I enjoyed taking the journey with Graf and Jessa through the clues of what the monster is and who is responsible for it's existence... I truly did not connect with the characters at first, not only was this the rudest crudest and most idiotic vampire I have ever met in a book but Graf just did not appeal to me... However once I really got past that dislike and started getting into the spirit of the story some of my dislike turned into grudging respect and then into acceptance... When all is said and done this is not the best vampire book I have ever read, it is not the worst either as it does have humor and a different tone than most of what is out in the genre today... I did enjoy the way the book ended, not sure if there will be anything else written about Graf as this book seems to be a stand alone so far and cannot find anything on the authors website or blog to indicate differently. There are a few really good surprises in the book that will make the reader say AHA and some good give and take between Graf and Jessa that at times will make the reader annoyed and at others will just make you smile! Not something I will re-read but am glad I got a copy and hope that Jennifer Armintrout will grace us with another book sooner than later as she does have a way with words that keeps me entertained!
