Dark and violent but in a good way as this is more like the vampires of legend as they should be, more realistically brutal and at the same time retaining their cunning intelligence to keep them from being discovered and exterminated by the humans whose blood they survive on.This was a good start and interested to see how the second book follows Cian and Liya's story.
