Fascinated by the dark fantasies in the journals she’s discovered, and the two men who have now found a place in her life, Sara McMillan finds herself torn between her new life and her past. Now, more than ever, Sara identifies with the lost journal writer, Rebecca, and is certain that something sinister has happened. In the arms of the sexy, tormented artist Chris Merit, Sara seeks answers about Rebecca and ends up discovering things about herself she never knew existed. Chris forces Sara to reconsider who she is and what she truly wants from life, but not before his dark desires threaten to tear them apart. Her boss, Mark Compton, offers her the shelter to understand just what those needs mean to her, and what they might have meant to Rebecca, but can she trust him to lead her to a final conclusion to Rebecca’s story? My ThoughtsFantasy and reality combine for Sara in this second book in the Inside Out trilogy that author Lisa Renee Jones has captured the imagination of multitudes of readers with when she released book 1 If I Were You. In Being Me we reconnect with Sara trapped in the dark in the storage unit where she has been looking through more of Rebecca's things when the power suddenly went out. Sara has a full blown anxiety attack thinking someone is either in the storage unit with her or just outside the door in the hallway and flees the building to her car. She leaves but then realizes the unit is unlocked and ends up having her lover Chris Merit come meet her so they can go back inside and lock the door. This is just the beginning of a very intense story that takes us further into both Chris and Sara's relationship and the art world that Sara so passionately wishes to make her career. When first Sara hooked up with Chris in book 1 If I Were You their coming together was a side story that had not been fully realized, in this second book Being Me that relationship takes center stage and heats up the pages quite frequently. Not only do we get more insight into Sara's background, including her family relationships and her reason for blowing hot and cold emotionally but we also finally get to find out what really happened to Rebecca.Along with insight into Sara's troubled past we are also made aware of just how damaged emotionally her sexy lover, Artist Chris Merit, is and as she finds out the depths of his pain Sara does everything within her power to show him that with her love he can finally stop shutting her out but instead embrace what they have and allow it to help him heal. This is a book of revelations that will take the reader places with the characters that they were hoping to be allowed access to, it will also prove that book 1 was not just a fluke as this second book in trilogy has just as much appeal and at times is even more of an emotional roller coaster. My thinking upon finishing was that at this point not only has Lisa Renee Jones completely taken Chris and Sara to a new level but she has also done a great job in concluding the mystery behind Rebecca's disappearance in a manner that was in keeping with the buildup of suspense that was running through the book from beginning to end. What I am hoping for but not counting on is that in the third and final book everything that has happened between Chris and Sara from this point forward comes to it's final conclusion, in a way that will not only satisfy the readers curiosity but in a way that will bring the troubled pair some lasting happiness together!Come September of 2013 which brings the third and final book in the trilogy Revealing Us to release date my patience will be sorely tested even with the interim installments that the author is offering of her free novella Behind Closed Doors which we can read a chapter of for free every Monday starting June 3rd, 2013 if we sign up Here.[EARC from Netgalley in exchange for honest review]
