Housewife Blues and Chihuahua Stories

Lifelong Texan, love reading from many genres thanks to early childhood readalongs with my Dad, love cooking for my family, working in my yard, playing with my cats and since being diagnosed in late 2012 with RRMS finding ways to keep body and mind active is even more important.

Water Bound (Sea Haven: Sisters of the Heart Series #1)

Water Bound - Christine Feehan I have heard it said that you either love author Christine Feehan Christine Feehan's books or you hate them... I am in the "I love her books" camp and after picking up Water Bound from my TBR shelf it cemented the feeling all over again... This book may be a slower read, it is also a very thought provoking read and it is so well done when it touches on a subject that is not really used in Paranormal Romance, at least none that I have read before... Autism is insidious, it is awful and it robs so many people of living a "normal" life! It is different to have the main female character Rikki Sitmore as a highly functioning autistic person who not only drives but lives alone and dives in the ocean harvesting sea urchins as her main form of income and is not only a brave leap for the author, but adds a very unique element to the story line... I truly enjoyed the character of Rikki and look forward to meeting each of her other "Sister's Of The Heart" again as they each get their own story...Add that in with the wonderful male lead character of Lev who is not only a deadly assassin but also a truly interesting and complex man with many layers that are peeled back one by one to reveal a man any woman would be very proud and glad to call her own! His genuine caring and gentleness with RIkki is something that comes across as very natural. For this man reared and honed on violence you can tell his concern is never fake or forced as he was used to inflicting pain not caring for someone else....The familiarity of the setting being the "Sea Haven" community made it even more of an easy read for me, the mentions of the Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters, #1) Drake Sisters and their respective husbands also made it feel like we were revisiting old friends... So all in all for me a really enjoyable book with all the cool supernatural gifts that were employed by both Rikki and Lev adding to the experience and their chemistry together was absolutely superbly orchestrated from their very first dramatic encounter when Rikki saved his life! From the very first time I heard that there would be a Sea Haven spin off series the wait was long and anxious until Water Bound was released this past summer... Then idiot me waited over four months to read it! Don't make the same mistake or you will miss out on a really wonderful book that was a very slow feast for the senses take it one-day-at-a-time romance and yet had enough of the drama and intrigue and all the tension of previous books written by the author to keep the reader turning the pages until the end! Looking forward to seeing where Ms. Feehan takes us with this new series!
